The various animals at GuZoo can collectively consume 70 pounds of dog/cat food every day. That is a lot of pet food. Bags of dog or cat food of ANY BRAND would be a very welcomed donation.
GuZoo is always in need of gravel. Gravel is getting more and more expensive as is the cost of delivery. If you can find it in your heart to pay for a shipment of gravel to our zoo, it would be greatly appreciated. The nearest gravel supplier is a business called LPR Concrete. They are only 6km. from us. You can call and tell them you want to pay for a truck load of gravel for the GuZoo. Their number is (403) 443-7860
In addition LPR Concrete can also supply us with a washed gravel that we need specifically for our dog adoption kennels. The washed rock is more expensive then regular gravel but it is necessary for keeping the adoption dog kennels free of mud and allowing for proper water drainage during the wet weather. We need to replenish the kennels about every two years. We are in need of washed gravel now. About 6 cubic yards would be great. Again their number is (403) 443-7860
Trees! The Gustafson family has been planting trees for years on the GuZoo grounds. Trees are so important for keeping biting winds down and protecting animals and people alike from the hot sun. If you can donate 4 foot trees of the spruce, pine, ash, aspen or poplar variety, that would be wonderful.
We need those tip proof stainless steel dog dishes. The large ones. Plastic ones just don't last. These dishes are used for rabbits, guinea pigs, pot bellied pigs and the adoption dogs. We are trying to convert all our dishes to this type as they are chew proof and almost indestructible.
GuZoo tries very hard to keep their grounds looking fresh and colorful with various gardens throughout the zoo. Perennials of all types would be a welcome donation. Pick out some from your local green house or dig them up from your own garden. Bring them to me, Irene, I would be thrilled to plant them in any one of my gardens.
We are hoping to finish the floor in the office with some nice looking floor covering. We have decided that tech FlexRock or Beauty Tone Hard Rock paint is what we are looking for in terms of durability and aesthetics. We need five cans of this paint to do the whole floor.
